Ratu Epeli Nailatikau to be laid to rest on Bau Island

The former President is expected to be buried on Bau Island following a public church service at Albert Park, Suva.

Former President and Na Turaga Taukei Naisogalaca, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, is expected to be laid to rest on Bau island next week.

This was confirmed to this masthead by Roko Tui Bau, Ratu Timoci Tavanua yesterday.

Ratu Timoci said details of the burial would be finalised following the mataqali Tuikaba meeting with Ratu Epeli’s wife, Adi Koila Nailatikau, on Friday.

He said Ratu Epeli is expected to be buried next Saturday following a church service at the Albert Park in Suva on the same day, where members of the public are welcome to attend.

Ratu Epeli is expected to lay at the State House on Friday, with the reguregu (traditional presentation of mats and whales’ tooth) expected to be observed at Borron House.

The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs will lead the funeral arrangements in consultation with key stakeholders and the vanua.
