Search and rescue teams have been activated after a boat carrying six people failed to arrive at Fulaga Island after departing Namuka Island yesterday morning.

Three fibreglass boats reportedly departed Namuka Island for Fulaga, but only two arrived safely.

Relevant authorities, mariners and nearby communities have been alerted as search efforts continue.
However, adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and rough to very rough seas, are hampering the search.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre has appealed to mariners travelling between Namuka, Fulaga and surrounding waters to maintain a sharp lookout for the missing boat and its occupants.
Anyone with information or who sights the vessel is urged to contact the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Fiji on the toll-free number 1539 or report to the nearest police station.
The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) has also reminded mariners to closely monitor official weather forecasts and marine warnings.
It urged small-boat operators not to travel during adverse weather or unsafe sea conditions and to ensure vessels are seaworthy and equipped with adequate fuel, lifejackets, reliable communications equipment and other essential safety gear before heading out to sea.
The search remains ongoing, with further updates expected as more information becomes available.
