People's Alliance yet to finalise poll lineup: Dimuri

The People’s Alliance (PA) has started it’s election preparations as it strategises campaign plans and candidate selection.

Party president Ratu Josefa Dimuri said the party had begun strategising as it prepares to kick-off its campaign towards the 2026-27 General Election.

A recent meeting held in Suva focused on the party’s plans and direction as it moves closer to the election period.

The party is also working on its manifesto and candidate lineup, but a date for its announcement has not been finalised.

“Definitely it is going to be or could be at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September or could be after that,” Mr Dimuri said.

The party has not completed the process of finalising its candidates.

“We got people, so many people they have applied and we have not started doing interviews yet,” he said.

Mr Dimuri said members of Group of 11 (G11) who had applied would go through the normal process and would be considered.

He was unsure whether any members of the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) had shown interest in joining PA because he had not viewed the full list of applicants.

“It will be interesting the names that are there,” he said.

Mr Dimuri believes the upcoming general election will be challenging to contest.

“We cannot deny that there are people who are not happy with some of the decisions that we have made, but on the other hand we can carry with confidence lots of confidence that we have quite a lot of support,” he said.

The party believes it has support because of developments delivered to communities.
