Police probe death of 18-year-old found at Lautoka park

Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old who was found at a park in Lautoka over the weekend.

The deceased has been identified as Venina Cirikeba Cava, who was discovered at a park near the Aspen-managed Lautoka Hospital last Friday night.

Police said she was found motionless and later confirmed dead.

Her aunt, Cokolaca Taqiri, said Ms Cava had been staying with her while looking for work.

She said that two weeks ago, Ms Cava moved to live with another relative at Rifle Range.

“We were shocked when we heard what had happened to her,” Ms Taqiri said.

She said Ms Cava’s father had come to take her back to the village, and they were expected to leave this week.

“He wanted her to stay there and look for work. It’s painful that she died this way.”

Ms Cava, a former student of Bau College in Tailevu, was from Naila Village.
